13 Passive voice
As its name implies
the active voice generally conveys a more active, engaged tone in one's writing.
Passive voice, by contrast, often conveys an indirect and hesitant tone.
Passive voice: The suitors were rebuffed by Penelope's strategems.
Active voice: Penelope's strategems rebuffed the suitors.
Since Penelope is the actor in this situation, show her doing the action by using the active voice.
